DESIGN CHALLENGE

Play store on android TV was barely on life support for 2+years. 
As a result multiple CUJ’s have been accumulated and the
experience has become outdated and less user friendly.

I worked on redesigning the experience and developing an original Design language for the platform. This Design language later on evolved to become the new Google TV design system.

APP DISCOVERY

Discovery

The main goal of our discovery experience was to highlight all the great content inside the apps. We recognized that the format for most apps stores wouldn't work for TV and that most users would only download the same content apps. 

We highlighted TV shows, Movies, Live events and sports happening inside these apps instead of the app icons to help users find their favorite content. 
This helped less popular content apps to stand out.

App detail pages should be immersive and information should be quick and easy to understand from mid-to-far field.



While making it easy for our users to quickly go through the installation process. 

This same detail page framework was later on evolved to become the detail page framework for all detail pages on the new Google TV experience.
